Physical presence
no fixed minimum number of days per year, but the residence card requires annual re-registration — the holder must enter Latvia at least once every 12 months to keep the permit valid; the holder must also personally collect the residence card in Latvia within 3 months of approval
- Investment route
- •Real estate purchase, minimum EUR 250,000 (one property in Riga, Jurmala, or 12 named surrounding municipalities, or up to 2 properties elsewhere), cadastral value at least EUR 80,000, plus 5% of the purchase value paid to the state budget
- •Subordinated liabilities (deposit) with a Latvian credit institution, minimum EUR 280,000, term at least 5 years, plus EUR 25,000 paid to the state budget on receipt of the first permit
- •Share capital investment in a Latvian company, minimum EUR 50,000 (company with under 50 employees, turnover/balance under EUR 10 million) or EUR 100,000 (larger company), plus EUR 10,000 paid to the state budget

- •the real estate route excludes vacant land and agricultural/forest land
- •the share capital route is capped at 10 foreigners per company under the EUR 100,000/50,000-employee tier
- •all routes require proof of subsistence funds of EUR 500/month for the main applicant plus EUR 500/month per adult dependant and EUR 150/month per minor dependant
